Communication Isn’t Just About Words
Communication is influenced by:
- Stress and overwhelm
- Nervous system states
- Sensory needs
- Neurodivergence
- Emotions
- Family history
- Culture, identity, and belonging
When we understand what’s happening beneath behaviour, communication begins to make more sense.
What You’ll Walk Away With
✔ A deeper understanding of why communication breaks down — and why it’s often about nervous system pressure, overwhelm, and unmet needs rather than bad intentions
✔ The ability to see behaviour as communication — a clue to what may be happening underneath, not simply a problem to solve
✔ Simple, practical tools for navigating overwhelm, shutdown, conflict, and big emotions
✔ Greater confidence supporting communication beyond words, including silence, movement, sensory needs, creativity, and environment
✔ Small, realistic shifts you can use in everyday moments when you, your child, or your family are stretched to capacity
✔ A better understanding of repair — and how to reconnect after difficult conversations, misunderstandings, or conflict
✔ More confidence advocating for your child’s needs and your family’s needs at home, at school, and in the wider world
✔ A framework for creating relationships where people feel safe enough to be honest, make mistakes, ask for help, and stay connected

Why Our Programs
Support Neurodivergent Systems
Glad We Talked® can help reduce feelings of isolation and dysregulation
Nervous-system first, not behaviour-first
My programmes focus on regulation, capacity, and safety rather than compliance or “fixing” behaviour - recognising that neurodivergent responses are often adaptive, not problematic.
Language that reduces shame increases clarity
Everything is designed to move away from “calm down,” control, or deficit-based models, offering affirming language that helps neurodivergent folk understand why they respond the way they do.
Paced to reduce overwhelm and burnout
With short lessons, gentle drip timing, and long access windows, the structure supports neurodivergent energy, attention, and capacity = allowing learning to happen without pressure.
